I just notice something while I was writing this response. I put a
smaller member filter into the show in table then selected several
members, right-clicked and selected "iSphere Compare Editor". Seems
unreasonable but the popup appears. Then the tool shows you the
left member as *SELECTED and the right as *LEFT however, both inputs
are locked. Not very useful but interesting.

I *LOVE* this feature! Thomas added it based on my request (or maybe it
was Frank?). If you select a bunch of members, right-click, and the
iSphere "Compare Source Members" dialog comes up. In the dialog, you
specify the Library and File where the members you want to compare to
reside. Then the iSphere compare will compare each member you've selected
against the corresponding member in the Library and Source file you enter
on the dialog.
I have to approve all requests for promotions or what we call a "Move to
Production." This feature allows me to review just the code changes
without having to look at all the prior existing code or search on dates,
etc. This allows me to very efficiently review a large set of changes
without having to specify the same "Right"-hand compare Library and File
over and over again.
I use the same feature when merging my own changes to code, but I specify
"Open for edit" and sometimes "Consider date". iSphere lets me modify the
change date when needed. (This might not satisfy SOX audit requirements,
but we're not subject to those requirements at this time--being a
non-profit.) I've found the iSphere compare very useful and flexile.
If I select a single member, I can do a three-way compare which is handy
for merging modified code with a new ISV release.
For a free product, I've found iSphere invaluable. Frank and Thomas are
incredibly responsive to suggestions and requests. Especially when you
consider they have paying jobs that should take priority of their
time--I'm amazed at how quick hey respond to requests for iSphere.
