Yes, the "-clean" option seemed to work!
I have now duplicate my shortcut, and have one with the clean option. On my old laptop I had that, and forgot to redo that on my newer laptop...
Two separate shortcuts seems to work for me...
I was blow away by how fast the "-clean" option worked. Normally, it seemed to take a long time. This one ran in under 20-seconds. It made me think that I did not do it right...
I will have to tell the new RDI/RPG hires about that shortcut trick. I am trying to start them on the right path by starting to use RDI 9.5.1.1 on day one... <Big Smile>
So far, both love RDI, although it is a lot to "digest". Along with everything else, timesheets, promotion, procedures, naming conventions, meetings, etc...

Ken, have you tried using the option to clean the workspace?
If not that is very likely something that will fix the problem. I had this issue a long time ago and IBM helped me with this solution. If you have not used this option before, you simply use a "switch" for the executable.
The switch is: -clean.
To clarify, if you are familiar with DOS / Windows command switches, that is what I'm talking about. Basically you run the executable but when doing so you include a blank space and then -clean after the executable name.
If you are not as familiar with windows command prompt or just like doing less typing, you can temporarily make an easy change the short cut you are using to start RDI and accomplish the same thing. This can be done by right clicking the shortcut and clicking properties. Then change the "target"
attribute so the end of the existing value includes -clean.
Example. Yours may be different but Mine shows:
"C:\Rational Software\RDi 9.5 Installation Directory\eclipse.exe" -product com.ibm.rational.developer.ibmi.product.ide
Change that to:
C:\Rational Software\RDi 9.5 Installation Directory\eclipse.exe" -product com.ibm.rational.developer.ibmi.product.ide -clean
Notice the only difference is the end where -clean is added. Now, click OK to save that change and then run the shortcut (double click it). You will notice that it takes longer than normal to start up RDI. That is because it is rebuilding the Metadata for the workspace. Once it opens you should be good - problem resolved. If so, you need to remove the -clean switch from your shortcut as it adds a lot of overhead for normal daily use of the workspace. After you remove the -clean option you should be able to close /open the workspace and see normal speed opening the workspace in addition to resolution of the original problem.
This is fairly common and may sound more involved than it really is.
Really nothing to it.
