Hello Mark,
You are right that the restrict search to selection was not working as
expected and was missing features as requested in:
RFE77454: Change ctrl-f to function like eclipse find
https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=77454
RFE77455: Make ctrl-f function the same way in both block and stream modes
https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=77455
This has been corrected in RDi 9.5.1 and you will find that it should work
as expected for Line, Rectangle and Character Block selection mode.
In addition, we have implemented support for mouse selection or keyboard
Shift and Arrow key selection as well (also called Stream selection).
Thanks,

Sent by: "WDSCI-L" <wdsci-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx>
RDi 9.5.0.3
When I try to do a find and replace on a block of text in my program, the
Restrict search to selection checkbox is disabled. If I have nothing
selected, or if my selection is entirely on a single line, I can check the
Restrict search to selection box, but if I select more than one line of
source, the Restrict search to selection checkbox is disabled. Seems
backwards to me. This is using the character select mode. I never use line
select mode, in fact just tried Line select, and rectangle select, and
Restrict search to selection is enabled, and defaulted. Now if only it
would do the same for character select mode when more than one line is
selected.
