Drag and drop is a great part of RDi. When I can drag a PC-based text file to a Library on the IBM i, and a wizard pops up leading me to tell it where and how to plop it into a file, then RDi'll be greater.

I find wizards are OK, but in my experience they're better for
interactive use than as programming aids (though in principle, they
could be very good programming aids). I don't think wizards that are
good for setting up automated processes are common, at least not yet.

I just don't want to re-invent a wheel here. Besides, my choice for programming it would be RPG or Visual Basic and I don' t know if that's the best way to go.

What's the "it" you would program? I'm especially confused since RPG
(for all intents and purposes) lives solely on the i, whereas Visual
Basic lives solely on Windows. So it's rare for those two languages to
be alternatives to each other.

Python, on the other hand, could be an alternative to either RPG or
Visual Basic (and I have used it in both capacities). (Let me quickly
say that if what you want to program is going to live on Windows, VB
is not a bad choice.)
