The hex Parameter might help, although it works with ASCII, not EBCDIC,
so the hex values you are familiar with will be different.

So. Position the cursor after the asterisk, press Escape to get to the
command line, set hex 15, press Enter, press Escape. SEU will show a
pink RI. RDi will show a lozenge.

If you were to use the query command, you could look at the translation
from EBCDIC to ASCII. Open a member that currently has the embedded
attribute bytes, Position the cursor to one of the lozenge characters
that interests you and

query hex

will tell you the ASCII value (in hex).
