Edmund,

Thanks! That sounded like and appears just like my situation...

Okay, tried that on only one of the function keys, and did not seem to make a difference....

Now, I have the following mapping:
F10=Step-Over
F11=Step-Into

Both set to "Debugging"....

I flip my perspective to "Database Design" and press F11, it takes me to step-into and opens the debug perspective....

Ditto for the following perspectives, and it take me always back to debug perspective:
o Resource
o Turnover
o iProjects
o DDS Design

And it also takes me back to Debug, and works flawlessly...

I tried flipping back to outline view, and now WITHOUT CHANGING the "DEBUGGING" view....

DRAT!!!! I thought I had finally found a way to duplicate function keys stop working in RDI...

No changes, and it seems to be working great....

PS. I have NOW change it o "in Windows", and see if I run into the error again...

Hi Ken,
Other have hit the same problem when debugging Java http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13391804/eclipse-run-debug-shortcut-key-doesnt-work

The issues is that the F5/F6/F7/F8 are set in the General>Keys preference to be active when 'Debugging'
This allows some other editor/plugin to use them for something else in a different context.

I am not sure if there is a generic context you can set them to. I couldn't figure it out in the 10 minutes I spent.

Hi,

I am using RDi 9.5.0.2 and inside of debug, and every so often my FUNCTION keys for Play, Step-Over, and Step-Into STOP WORKING!!! <frustration>

I think I have found one way to duplicate it:

1.) Start debug with RDI...

2.) Use functions for Step over and/or INTO. Works Great!

3.) Flip to OUTLINE view for analysis, to find a field size...
Using LPEX, the editor will give you pop-up tip on the attributes.
But, this functionality "disappears" in Debug-Mode for whatever reason.

4.) Then try use Function keys for Debugging again. And they all are
SHUT OFF!! They no longer work!!!

This has been a long time annoyance for me for a VERY LONG TIME! Which makes me extremely frustrated at RDI DEBUG...

Oh well, at least I found "one way" to duplicate Function keys stop working for debug....

Reported on PMR# 45239 442 000 -- RDI 9.5.0.2 Function keys stop working in Debug

PS. Haven't had my Delete and/or Backspace key fail me in quite a while on RDI! <Joy Joy> That normally was VERY RARE, but still drove me MAD... <LOL>
