If the list system in use supports aliasing, where multiple alias names all route to a common list, then everyone's suggestion for a list name should be implemented as an alias.

It would be nice to have searches across the search engines for ALL of the recommended list alias names wind up in this common list / thread.

If someone went into Google and searched for "Eclipse for System i", or any of the recommended list names, the goal is they wind up here.

In a world that likes to keep renaming things, it would be nice to add a new alias / search keyword when RDi gets renamed in the future and not have to rename the list.

e.g. name the list 123456, and somehow wire up the alias / keyword names to search engines such that the following keyword searches all have a good chance of landing on list 123456:
* Code400 forum, WDSC forum, RSE forum, RDP forum, RDi forum
* Code400 mail list, WDSC mail list, RSE mail list, RDP mail list, RDi mail list
* Code400 support, WDSC support, RSE support, RDP support, RDi support
* Code400 discussion, WDSC discussion, RSE discussion, RDP discussion, RDi discussion
* etc.

One name is good, but many alias names pointing to a single list would yield more participants.

I'm guessing support for alias names may not be there, hence we could use a single list name of Code400-WDSC-RSE-LPEX-RDP-RDi-Eclipse, plus any other missing and relevant traffic generating keywords.

Well there is one name IBM have never (?) changed since WDSC and they is RSE (Remote Systems Explorer) - one of the reason why we have tended to use that name in our teaching material etc.

So RSE-L I would think could be an option.

I'm also in for RDI-L.
I've often wondered about having the list renamed, although honestly I figured if RDI became RDP again the name would be old again. Vern's idea of IDE-L is a good one, although as many have mentioned, I think a lot of us search on RDI.

"RDI-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx"

Thanks for the input folks ... I think "RDI-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx" is the best name candidate.

I won't be making any radical changes without plenty of prior notification ... and the archives & list membership will be 100% preserved.

Also, this won't be happening in the immediate future ... I have a fair number of projects on my list at the moment and this isn't at the top.
