You go on to describe (in broad strokes) the process of writing a
proper, full-blown Eclipse plug-in. I wouldn't even bother to call
that "scripting". You are right; there is minimal advantage to using
a different programming language for that. Likewise, the thing you're
describing for Code/400 would be similarly easy to use regardless of
whether you accessed it with Rexx or almost any other language.

I am still a little surprised that Eclipse has been lacking in this
area for so long.
