Please note that some IBM servers recently were having updates done to deal
with some security vulnerabilities (the Poodle issue is the most recent).
There is a difference in IM between 1.7.x and 1.8 with how it connects to
the IBM servers to check for updates and it might have been temporarily
impacted. There was also a period where IM 1.7.x was not able to see
available updates too (no endless loop as you describe, it would just say
no available updates). This is now resolved.

If you continue to experience issues, please contact support.

Thanks,
Eric

I'll answer my own question. I found a co-worker still running
Installation Manager 1.7.2, and updates worked for him, so I uninstalled
everything, reinstalled at IM 1.7.2, and updates work again. In summary,
don't click the check box in installation manager that tells it to look for
updates to itself. IM 1.8.0 apparently has some flaws. Sometimes older is
better.

I'm getting a reconnecting endless loop when checking for updates to RDI
9.1 in installation manager. Over and over again, it says connecting to
www.ibm.com:443. Rational support was unaware of any issues at their end,
so concluded it must be at our end. I didn't notice any issues until
Installation Manager v1.8.0, so if a couple other external sources, such as
yourself, could confirm that its working for you at this version of
installation manager, I'll submit the issue to our network specialists
again with more priority to see if they have any ideas.

Thank you.
