I learned this after submitting a bug report about %char( charVariable) not reporting an error in RDi, but it's an error on the compiler... prior to 7.2.

I know at the time I read up on why you can %char a char and it made sense, but I have a feeling that we're going to have leftover %char( char ) now whenever we change a field from numeric to char. (Whoops, went on a rant there!)

To Paul

This documentation always has What's New for the several releases - yeah, not so handy as limiting by release, but information is there.

I use that feature to see why I might get an error with a new parameter on a %BIF, for example.

Hi,

I've only just noticed, and I don't remember it being mentioned on
this list before, but when I press F1 while my cursor is on an RPG
statement or built-in function, the RDi help screen comes up
positioned to that statement/function. This is good. However, the
version of RPG mentioned in the help text is way above my version!

Is there a way to make the context help in an RPGLE member bring up
the RPG help for version IBM i 6.1? Same for CL, etc.
