This is why the RFE specifically addresses CL--because no text is lost
when 'Automatic formatting' is enabled.

Beeping when editing RPG is irrelevant to the RFE. (I understand the need
for the alarm--source will be lost on upload. Although in theory RDi could
reformat everything flowing to multiple lines when typing beyond 80
characters (or 100 for free-form RPG). In fact, I think the RDi
development team is looking to do this for SQL. Personally, I would rather
see them put the development resources to work on other items than "live"
reformatting of RPG or COBOL.)

I just think it's pointless to keep beeping at me with every keystroke
when the source will be reformatted and nothing will be lost. The beeps
even happen when pressing the delete key. (It's like saying, "Warning!
You're fixing the code!)

Again, the RFE only addresses CL and is qualified to CL with 'Automatic
reformatting on. In RPG, the editor won't beep until you exceed column
100. If you're not editing free-form code, beeping past column 80 would
make sense.,

I love the BEEPS! It also beeps when I go beyond the length of

I'm a simple green screen programmer so this opinion is worth every
penny you paid for it. If the host system can only accept 80 columns of
text, why should the editor allow more than 80 columns of text? I mean,
it seems an anti-feature to be able to type out to column 500 when the
upload is going to wipe all that typing out.

Clearly, Lpex knows I'm typing 'too far' because it's beeping at me.
Wouldn't it be more useful to just lock the keyboard or flow the text to
the next line?
