Why should the editor allow more than 80 columns of text? One reason it that RDi has the auto-formatter (for SQL at least) that hopefully in the future will allow us to type past column 80 and then reformat the line.

it seems an anti-feature to be able to type out to column 500 when the
upload is going to wipe all that typing out.

Clearly, Lpex knows I'm typing 'too far' because it's beeping at me.
Wouldn't it be more useful to just lock the keyboard or flow the text to
the next line?
