The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
That is how the editor worked in first version following the
introduction of the Screen Designer. If you set Screen Designer as the
default editor for DSPF files, then Ctrl-Shift-A (Always) opened display
files using the screen designer.
It might have been that this feature didn't work for Print Files and
that was what was added in 7.2?
However, when I read and voted for that RFE I thought it was to give us
an option to choose between LPEX and Screen Designer when using
Ctrl-Shift-A regardless of what was chosen as the default editor.
There are many times when we need to open the display file in just LPEX
since the auto update sync feature of the Screen Designer causes huge
slowdowns. Slowdowns in the range of 30-60 seconds wait per Key-Stroke.
Like trying to change a field name and waiting a minute before you can
change the next field. Or like editing in the LPEX tab and changing one
character, and having the auto update resync for 1-5 minutes.
I have found, in some cases it is faster to make a change and immediate
close the source, causing the save dialog to popup. Save the member and
then reopen. This saves many minutes of waiting for the editor to return
control.
So, since that RFE has been closed, do we need to create a new RFE for:
"Give an option to choose between LPEX and Screen Designer when using
Ctrl-Shift-A when opening a display file."

Hi Matt
The enhancement is that when you open a DSPF or PRTF using Ctrl-Shift-A
it will now open in Screen or Report Designer (or what you have set as
your default editor) as opposed to always opening it LPEX which was the
pre 9.1 behaviour.
