The converter will not, according to IBM, convert into the new free format - only what it has always done.

Arcad and Linoma are positioned as the solutions for doing that.

I pulled an older version of a program that has fixed C, D and F specs and used RDi's converter. It only converted the C-specs where it could and wrapped /Free and /End-Free statements around what it could not convert. That's what we do here in this shop.

Subject: [WDSCI-L] Fixed form calculation generation

Not sure I understand the question but our manufacturing and accounting systems are old packages and a mixture of RPG III and RPG IV. I do not see these systems going away any time so we will be continue to do new development in RPG IV (probably without free-form F and D specs) and have to support older versions of RPG because the task of converting our old packaged systems is too large at this time.

I understand your requirement and it sounds like a good candidate for
an RFE.
I am thinking

Have 2 check boxes
'Generate free-form declarations' -> (if this checked, free-form
calcs automatically checked and grey) -> assumes 7.1 functionality
'Generate free-form calculations'
If generate free-form declarations is NOT checked and free-form
calculations IS checked, then also generate /FREE /END-FREE

I wonder if anyone using RDI wants fixed-form calculations to be generated any more.
