Hi,

The tooltip you get when you hover over the editor's tab mentions the name of the "Host Name" (from the connection's properties) as part of the path to the temporary file being edited. With a bit of work you can make this work for you. This is how I did it:

1) Edited my hosts file to create several renames of the same IBM i host ip address (e.g.:
192.168.0.2 Live
192.168.0.2 UAT
etc.
). Editing the hosts file requires you to open notepad as administrator (the right-click option), open the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file (Win7-64 bit), and edit.

2) Changed the host name in every connection I have to a different name from the hosts file.

From then on, whenever you open a source member, the temporary file will be created in a folder that includes your new host name as part of the path and you can work out which connection is responsible for which source member by checking the editor tab's tooltip.

Then again, having proper notification through RDi would be infinitely better, so I voted for your RFE.

-Paul.

Subject: [WDSCI-L] An RFE to note the connection for an editor

I added a new RFE asking that connection information be added for different editor tabs. There were previous RFEs, but they were rejected because they specifically asked for differentiation based on the system for source opened in an editor. That can be determined by the title bar and/or hovering the mouse pointer over the editor tab. This RFE specifically asks for something to note what connection the source was opened through. I've not found anything that denotes the connection used for opening a source member. Take a look and see if you would like to vote for it.
