Edmund,

I submitted RFE 45608 "Bring LPEX editor more in line with Eclipse Java
editor" despite of I submitted a similar RFE (36974) back in October 2013,
because this new RFE is more general and includes the old RFE.

Thomas,
I like your suggestion, would you mind turning that into an RFE so
everyone
can vote on it?

Most likely it is not a bug but works as designed, because the LPEX
editor
seems to use to different modes of selecting text, which have their own
rules and which are not working hand in hand.

As I mentioned in a prior posting, I would like to see an LPEX "Editor
profile" that makes the LPEX editor work like the Eclipse Java editor as
long as it relates to "selecting text" or "text indention" (TAB /
Shift-TAB). Selection text, changing the left idention of selected text,
copy & paste and all the other actions related to pure text should work
the same for all editors in an IDE (Integrated Development Environment).
Of course moving the cursor with TAB to the next valid position in fix
format RPG should not be changed.

Just my two cents.

I looked and I can't find any way to prevent the "select" from
happening when you double-click in the error view.

There is a way to prevent "select" from the find view, but that flag
doesn't make any difference to the error view.

I also find this annoying as "select" is supposed to be deselected
when you click outside the selection (for the default "stream" block
selection), but apparently not when the error view does the
selecting. I think this is a bug and you might get some help (or
even a fix) if you raise a PMR. Let me know if they ask you to raise
an RFE instead and I will definitely vote for it.

I'm re-posting this question because the original thread was
sidelined.

This is the scenario:
1) Do a compile, see errors in the Error List pane.
2) Double-click on an error to get the errors marked in the source
editor.
3) Return to editor and commence fixing source.
4) Select some source, but invariably forget that double-clicking in
the Error List has already selected some source behind the scenes.
5) Curse because now a huge chunk of my program is selected.
6) Press Alt-U to unselect everything.
7) Re-select the source I really wanted to select.

Is there a way to stop this automatic source selection when double-
clicking in the Error List?

Is there a way to turn off the "feature" that selects a section of
code
in the editor when you double-click an error in the Error List? I
NEVER
want the code that is selected and I always forget this automatic
selection and end up having to press Alt-U to de-select a huge block
of
text! I can't seem to find a preference for this. Thanks!
