Jack,

What are you trying to accomplish?

The outline will show you every place that a
file/field/variable/indicator/subroutine name is used and where it is
defined. Hover over a variable and you get information about that
variable.

Hold down the CTRL key and hover over a variable and it turns into a hyper
link. Click on the link and you are taken to the definition. After that
if you press Alt+back arrow, you go back to the last line where you clicked.

Yes I just finished upgrading to 9.0.1

I'm still not seeing the live outline.

I have an old style *ENTRY PLIST. If I click on a variable in the outline
I'm taking immediately to that PARM line.

If I click in the editor on another variable in the parm line, the outline
does not change. ISn't that what it should be doing?

Thanks, Jack

To do that you should only have to get out of RDi and then use IBM
Installation Manager to update your install. The Installation Manager
might
have to update itself first.

Thanks Jim. I did find that box earlier and it is checked.

I have 9.0. I have to read the archives about getting the latest
version.

Jack,

You have RDi 9.X right? If so then go to Window > Preferences then
Remote Systems > Remote Systems LPEX Editor > IBM i Parsers > ILE RPG.
There you will find a check box to "Update the Outline view when text
is changed in the editor".

The faster way on the Outline pane is to click on the icon in the
upper right that looks like a down arrowhead. That should give you
the option to go to preferences.

How do I turn it on? I've been googling and searching the help text

If drill down into the outline and select a field for example, and
change the field, it changes in the outline. But if I move my
cursor in the editor to another field the outline doesn't move to
the new field.

Thanks, Jack
