Problems with timing out over a VPN are a constant issue for me, to the
point where I usually don't bother with RDi. (Or, if I really need the
features, I FTP the files to my PC, and edit them from there.)
These problems only happen with RDi, not any other software I've used.
No problems with Client Access, for example, even though it keeps open a
static connection at all times. I have a few other programs as well
that keep connections open that never time out. (As well as programs
that do not.)
I've had this problem with versions 7.5, 8.0. 8.5 and 9.0. And when I
asked for help on this list, I really got nothing useful except "upgrade
to a newer VPN" -- which I can't do, I have no control over the VPN...
and since other software doesn't have this problem, the company doesn't
believe the VPN is the problem.
I'd love to have a solution -- if you find one, please post it!

I just made a move to the Boston area and am now telecommuting to work. I wasn't heavy into RDi today, and it seemed that every time I went back to it, it had timed out. I vaguely recall other complaints about RDi over VPN. Is there anything I can do to keep the connection open? I don't recall this ever happening to me when I would work from home on bad snow days, but it could be that I spent most of my day in RDi.
