I just need to vent a little.

For the past 6 years (and next 3) we lease a new IBM i. (the smallest one). We lease the hardware, and buy hardware and software maintenance for 3 years.

So 3 years ago , we got version 8 of RDI (or whatever it was called) for around $1200-$1800.
I skipped the upgrade to 8.5 based on the negative feedback from this forum.

So recently I posted about a problem I was having in RDI and the fix was 'upgrade to version 8.5'. So I figure why not go to 9?

Imagine my surprise when I discovered I only had a 1 year license and have to pay $1246 to upgrade.

As a long time IBM i user, I expect to buy all my software for the same term. Yes, I understand RDI is from a different division of IBM. But that is not my concern. I just want to buy the software I need all at the same time for the same term.

Now maybe my business partner made a mistake. But if IBM wants us to use RDI, then it should be sold on the same terms as os/400 and other licensed products. IBM should do the work of packaging products together, not the customer.

Sorry I just needed to complain to someone.
