I downloaded and installed IBM Data Studio 4.1, and it seems to be that it is built on Eclipse 4.2, while RDP 8/8.5 is based on Eclipse 3.7. So, off hand, I don't know how that is possible.

There is a Data Perspective already in RDP 8/8.5.

On Data Studio 4.1, it has a placed marked for "Default Schema", that does NOT work for the default schema. You have to change the connection URL to have a default schema. The performance in Data Studio 4.1 is quite "Zippy"! Unlike the Data-perspective in RDP 8/8.5.

I am trying to learn it better myself... Using SquirrelSQL.org for now. But IBM Data Studio 4.1 has excellent Code Assist, if you like that!

If you have both Long & short names for your SQL Table. Data Studio does NOT like you using the short system names. It always pops up TWO Error messages sayings "Unable to find table <<name>>", and then allow you run your SQL. That is only for the SQL Builder. On the SQL Script side, it works fine...

On the SQL Script side, you can use F5=run SQL. But on the SQL Builder side, you have to use the menu to run the SQL. Where is the consistency?

Sort of hard to navigate in my opinion. I guess I have to learn it, like I learned Rational Developer... <smirk>

I am slowly learning it...

Wasn't it mentioned somewhere that Data Studio v4.1 is compatible with RDp v8.5?

During installation using Installation Manager, It was not allow me to install in the same package group with other Rational v8.5 products (RDp v8.5.1, RBD v8.5.1 and RTC v4.0.1). I'm hopeful to stay in the same version of Rational and only have to select the Data perspective as this make life easier for the developers and using RTC.

Also I should add that we do plan to upgrade/install v9.0 soon once we have time to review and perform upgrades for RTC.

Thank you,
