The eGit plugin is installed through the usual eclipse methods, not the Installation Manager. You need to visit the Help|Install New Software menu item, and in that you need to check the Available Sites.

eGit is provided as an update site on http://download.eclipse.org/egit/updates, so add that to the list of available sites. Also, RDi 7.6 is based on Eclipse 3.4 (Ganymede), so look for an Eclipse 3.4/Ganymede "releases" site in the list of available sites and tick that one. Press OK, look for eGit in the drop down list, and the process should be straight forward from there.

I just did all of this with my RDi 9.0.1 installation to make sure it worked. Obviously the Eclipse version is different, but the steps to install eGit are not too different.

I found this discussion on using GIT with the IBM i, but it doesn't mention RDi specifically: https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/community/forums/html/topic?id=77777777-0000-0000-0000-000014972420

I have not set up that particular plugin, however I am positive that you don't want to use Installation Manager to install it.

1. Open up RDi. (If running 64bit Windows, be sure to "Run as Administrator") 2. Goto Help>Install New Software....
3. Set up your repository and install

Hope this helps,

Subject: [WDSCI-L] Git Plugin on RDi 7.6.0

Hi to all.

i've been asked from a customer to use Git as a repository for RPGLE sources. They've already setup their Git server, so i've been requested to connect to it.

I'm currently use an old RDi 7.6.0 and have a look at the eclipse Plugin for Git, but wasn't able to setup IBM Installation manager to install the plugin (when i add the eGit repository, InstMan stopped complaining that http://download.eclipse.org/egit/updates is not a valid repository).

Does anyone have done this?? is the ecplise plugin for Git usable in RDi ?? maybe in a newer version ?? Is there any link/guide on how to poceed??

Thanks in advance.
