Hi Buck and Michael.
It sounds like the customer was trying to use the updater manually.
Probably just the help preferences need to be adjusted and it won't be
necessary to use the updater manually. If you had selected Local Help
during your install, this would have been set up for you.
In
Window > Preferences > Help > Content,
Set the remote server to Disabled. Set the Local server to Enabled. Then
click OK.
This should start the local help updater and start automatically
downloading content from a predefined URL for v9.
Re the comment about not seeing the current product in the list. Our expert
is looking into this. I believe there is an RSS feed that needs to be
updated so that our latest shows in the list.
Using the update manually should not be necessary. Our expert trying to
confirm the steps for using the updater manually but his system already has
the content locally so he doesn't currently have a clean environment for
that test. I'll let you know if I can confirm the manual steps. They should
be close to this, though:
1. Open Local Help Updated: Click Help > Local Help Updater
2. Click + icon to add a new site
3. Click the Remote option. Enter a Name (e.g. RDp v9) and enter the update
site url:
http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/iadthelp/v9/site/site.xml
Click OK.
4. Scroll down and select the help features to install locally. Note the
category names are the same as for last release but the content is coming
from the v9 site.
4. Click the Install button

After installing the Jetty mentioned in the tech note above I was
finally able to get the local help updater to run. When it does, it
opens a web page that presents a Site List on the left hand side. One
entry in that Site List is Rational Developer for Power Systems
Software. The sole entry under that is 8.5.x.
I would have expected to see a 9.0.x as well, but like Michael, I do not.

Hmm. I'm not finding an entry in the Local Help Updater for RDI 9. I'll
check again when I'm back in the office on Monday, but should I do
anything special to select it for the local help?
Thanks,

Hi Vern,
I have confirmed that your local updater would not work if the Info
Center
(http://pic.dhe.ibm.com:80/infocenter/iadthelp/v9/index.jsp) is down.
The Info Center is back up and we have taken measures to make sure it
doesn't happen again. So please try again.
