The userid that you sign in to RSE determines your default library list.
If you run a CL or just add a library or two to setup your dev environment,
you can right click on the Objects subsystem under your connection and
select Properties. The Initial Library List tab will let you set up the
initial library list for your connection.

Dale,
Put your cursor on a file name in the F spec, right click, select Show
Fields. This will display the field definitions and show the library for
the file.

Did you set up your library list from the properties of your connection -
Subsystems - iSeries Commands tab?

Thanks for that tip, I was not aware of that. Do you have any idea why the
fields do not show up in outline view for the DDL defined file?

For this project, I have an additional library that I add by hand to my
library list. If I forget to add it, the file is not found. That error is
quick to find.

I suppose I should set up a project connection, but like I said, I don't
want too many new things at once. I'm having enough things going on with
DDL, RDI and new RPGILE constructs.

I'd suggest you Verify(Prompt), and on the Cache option, check the
"Refresh Cache" property.

Sometimes, the cache attempts to retrieve metadata on some resource, and
will make note of resources that it could not find. Forcing the cache to
be refreshed on the Verify function can then properly retrieve the needed
metadata about the resource.

I never verify, I just compile. We are a small shop, I am working in the
office, compiles do not slow anyone down.

But based on your suggestion, I will verify with refresh on occasion if I
find odd problems.

thanks.
