How I handle this is to set up the User Key Action similar to what Paul
Bailey recommended. To do the filtering: I highlight the desired text,
open a second view, then press Ctrl+Shift+F to filter to the selected
text, I move to a line I'm interested in, and then press Ctrl+W to see
the context. After I look at it I can press the Ctrl+Shift+F to again
filter and select a different occurrence. If I recall, the ability to
show a number of lines above or below is either in the works or there's an
RFE for it.

Is there a way to expand a lpex editor filter so that it displays X
number
of lines above and below the search results.
What I'm after is instead off clicking on the + sign to display the
lines
below the result, is an option to display x lines above and below the
search results.
This will enable me to quickly determine how the search result is being
used.
