Hi Marco

That doesn't line up with my understanding - this page describes the kinds of licensing for Rational products -

http://www-01.ibm.com/software/rational/howtobuy/licensing/

That page says that we can choose between "an Authorized User license, an Authorized User Fixed Term License (FTL) and a Floating license"

There is also this statement -

"Rational does not currently offer a Floating Fixed Term License."

These are the options when purchasing through Passport Advantage - I don't remember if the terms are different if purchased through a BP using eConfig or whatever tool is in use now.

There's more on that page, and it does clarify things.

Fixed Term License = Floating.

The good news is that you can install the license server on the same
machine running RDP.

Hi,

After using wdsc for a few years, I decided to upgrade to rdp. I bought a
single user license on passport advantage.
Then I went to get the key on rational license key center, it says I
bought a floating lic instead.
It asks for license server info. I really don't want to install the
server.
Do I have to get IBM to change the lic changed or can I just install the
floating lic.

thanks
