Not on 8.5 yet, still on 8.0.3 haven't found anything for IBM i COBOL
programmer to take the time to move yet. Looks like some Outline changes
have occurred so might need to check that out.
Anyway, so the 'Compare with' still is just Compare no Merge feature like
WRKMBRPDM option 55, which is one thing besides DFU I still use
consistently on PDM? I do like that the sequence numbers was added, but
needs a Merge feature. Their was a RSE Extension that did a merge, but it
would always reset the 'Date Area' of all the lines in the program to
today's date, which would cause us to lose dates of when a line was
changed.
Before we move something up to Production, we compare(CMPM) the test
program with production program. Check to see if code from other
programmers is in it and needs stripped out (we put Project numbers in
Column 1-5 of the COBOL code to show which project it belongs to). If
differences, I would rename the program in Test and copy the program down
from Production, do WRKMBRPDM option 55 to compare and merge just my lines
of code into the production program (some programmers just copy and paste
but find the Option 55 much more useful and less errors happen).
Now their might be some Project merge process, but seems like excessive
steps for what I want to use merge for. Maybe I will look more into the
Projects not something we have found that appealing in our company. Just
want a quick and dirty merge process like WRKMBRPDM option 55 if possible,
I can create a RFEs just didn't know if it was created already?

Jeff,
In 8.5.1, there were enhancements for the 'Compare With' function to handle
sequence numbers.
So, try selecting two members, right click and select Compare With->Each
Other.
Thanks,
Eric

Is there any RFEs for having a comparable Merge feature like option 55 in
WRKMBRPDM of PDM?

It's nice to see RD Power: RPG and COBOL tools for i moving forward.
I started looking at the new hover function. I like it for the variables
and constants definitions, less so when it simply parrots the line and
masks the next line. I will have some RFEs:
- support for SQLRPGLE
- subfields detail for DS
- not showing the hover when it simply parrots the line
(I also have SR 12564.)
You also mention hyperlinks, I did not notice any; in what case do they
occur?
Have a nice day.
Thierry
