Wow--are you on 64-bit Windows 7? I'm on a 32-bit system and changing the
background changes the vertical line color for me. I even went into my
preferences and switched things around to using a black background--when
I'm in insert mode, the vertical bar cursor color will be RED.

Or maybe it's with the editor profile you're using? I'm surprised and
puzzled.

Michael,

I tried that, change the back-ground color of the cursor to "RED",
and the blinking cursor block is "RED"...

But, the Vertical bar, using the hairline cursor command is still a
light Gray color...

I guess I am stuck with light faded gray...
