Brian,
You guys are very impressive. I think we should hire you for our test
team :-)
I think you may have stumbled across an unintended side-effect of one of
our enhancements.
Now that Rational tools are integrating with tools from lots of different
platforms, a COBOL file, for example might be associated with a System z
editor, or an AIX editor, or an IBM i editor. So to clear up the
confusion, we filter the list of editors based on the operating system you
are working with.
We obviously overlooked the CODE Designer and CODE Editor. I will open up
a defect 15461 to track getting this fixed.
Regards,
Edmund (E.H.) Reinhardt

Subject: [WDSCI-L] RDP v8.5 and CODE
Sent by: wdsci-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx
Playing around with the RDP v8.5 trial. I note that the RSE context menu
item OPEN WITH for a DDS display file source member shows only LPEX Editor
and Screen Designer choices. (Similarly for printer file source only LPEX
Editor and Report Designer choices are listed.)
Are CODE Designer and CODE Editor no longer supported in RDP v8.5? (I tried
adding them to the FILE ASSOCIATIONS preference without success.)
Don?t misunderstand me ? I am not advocating the continued use of CODE
tools. Just wondering if their access is excluded from RDP v8.5. (The CODE
tools _can_ be accessed from within RDP v8.0.3.)
Brian Parkins.
