Hi,
Just so I'm clear on this, there is nothing new in this release for us lowly IBM i COBOL developers?
If this is the case then there is no reason to upgrade then? Saves me time and effort!
I will be reviewing the RFEs.

Hi Jon
We totally agree that COBOL outline desperately needs updating.
The AIX COBOL support gets to improve thanks to investment from our sister product RDz. So IBM is acting as one and code reuse does benefit. We in Toronto as putting relatively little effort in, for the bang we are getting.
But nobody else in IBM is going to do a live RPG model. So that is what our product area focused on. Now that it is in place, it will enable a lot of rich tooling so that we can get to the same level of productivity as the Java editing experience.
BTW, I have passed on your request about the Mac.
We appreciate all you are doing out there, Jon.
Regards,
Edmund (E.H.) Reinhardt

COBOL does not have the live outline update (for IBM i). The AIX

You

That's OK Edmund - COBOL Outline support is next to useless anyway ;-) There are many, many things it needs before you worry about live update!
Not being mean, but were there really that many RFEs for the COBOL AIX support that it got all the effort? There's precious little in 8.5 for IBM i period. Personally I was really disappointed that after all this community support there was so little content.
