Paul, thanks.
In this case, the source compiles to create a program object.
I did get a chance to talk with IBM when the PMR was opened and I have
sent source for them to analyze.
The IBM person explained they expect the problem to be in the verifier
and that is the most likely cause of the "crash" or abrupt close that
I have been seeing.
Currently, I can edit the source member in Rational, but I cannot use
the outline or verify: both trigger the crash.

I think I've seen this before. It happens to me when the program
source can't be parsed/verified, and when I check the output of the
verifier it points me to the error. (To be honest, this is the only
time I ever use the
verifier.) I can't remember a specific example, but I am fairly sure
it was always when there was a syntax error in the source code, which
could be as simple as a missing semi-colon or quote mark, or a
misspelled d-spec keyword (e.g. OPTION vs. OPTIONS). Either way, the
verifier pointed me to the line with the error even though the LPEX editor didn't.

Subject: [WDSCI-L] Unable to generate the Outline View
Rational for Power 8.0.3 is having trouble with a particular source
file and raises message: "Unable to generate the Outline View."
The msg appears in the Outline view prefixed with a red dot that has a
white x
If I hover over the message, the mouse icon changes to a hand, but
clicking does not seem to do anything.
Attempting to re-fresh crashes the session.
Unfortunately, this project is my top priority, so I need to go back
to SEU.
I have opened a PMR.
No joy in mudville.
