I didn't understand the other answers to your question, so perhaps I have misunderstood your question, but on the RDP screen designer there is a groups of small icons just below the list of records. The one on the left is named "Draw records transparent". The only effect this has had on my screen is to show the subfile records or subfile control in a "greyed out" format while I am viewing the other type. This allows me to see the column headings while dealing with subfile records, and vice versa.
