Thanks for the response. I did respond to my manager that I felt a 3-year SWMA was safe, and that our BP should verify that it would work as expected.

I also pushed to get this done through PPA... here's hoping.

I'm sitting with a number of things to open PMRs about. :)

3-year is the deal, and I'm definitely leaning toward it, but want to make sure it upscales before I go to my manager asking for a 3-year contract.

Based on the way things went with WDSC, I'd say a 3 year SWMA on RDP will get us 3 years of maintenance on RDP but not any hypothetical follow-on product.

The difference is that WDSC was a no-charge item, while RDP is chargeable. It is speculation whether Rational will give us entitlements (or not) to any hypothetical successor to RDP. But I'm guessing that my SWMA will not transfer to a successor IDE.
