It works on my setup with RDP v8.0.3 (which is the latest version). Just to cover the basics, you right-clicked the Qshells section of your connection and clicked both "connect" and then "launch shell"? Then the "Remote Shell" view is displayed?
On my setup (which is still the default, I think), the remote shell view has a section for output and an input "Command" box, which I can use to enter the commands I want.
