Yes I am at the current version 8.0.3.

I can right click on the variables in the variables view panel (and that
will add the variable to the monitor view), but then if I step further
into the program the variable view changes and displays the following
message:

"no local variables are available for the selected stackframe" and after
that the variables no longer appear in the variables view.

This used to work (in WDSCi) by clicking directly on the variable in the
debug editor view. I also used to be able to hover over variables and see
their value in the debug editor view. Those option are still available and
enabled enabled in the preferences.
