Dale,

The EVEVENT file is what I am talking about, as Maha pointed out. RDP/WDSc
creates this file, if it does not exist, for searches and compiles. Each
member contains results of a compile or search. If this file is not
multi-member capable, it can cause problems similar to what you were
describing.

As far as current library, that is set in the user profile initially, and
can be changed when a connection is made to whatever you need it to be,
along with the library list. I am not sure that RDI works completely the
same way as RPD/WDSc, but my guess is that it does. If you right click on a
connection and go into properties, you can see under the SUBSYSTEMS
selection a tab named OBJECTS where you can specify the library list that
the connection will use, including the current lib. You can also specify a
command that runs at connection time. I use the CALL PGM(mystartup)
command to set the library list for that connection.

Maha,
I do not remember setting a current library. Maybe this happens at
install. I had lots of trouble with my install. Changing to QGPL solved
the problem.
This is a pretty big problem for new users of RDI. With the cryptic error
message, all the user knows is "search doesn't work in RDI"
I do force myself to use RDI, but I am still faster in PDM. Problems like
this make my acceptance slower. On a performance note, PDM searched about
600 members for "unique" and got results in about 5 seconds. RDI took
about 3 to 5 minutes. Yes, the results are right there in RDI and I can
click to open, but if searches take so much longer, that advantage is not
worth it. ---Dale

[WDSCI-L] Find not working, gives error message Dale, Is your event file
capable of multiple members? I have seen something like this when WDSC
created an event file that was capable of only one member. HTH Jim

The underlying problem is that we store the search results in QGPL/EVEVENT,
or in the current library if you have a *CURLIB set.
If you change your current library from QSYS to a library that you have
access to, this should resolve the problem.
We are looking into providing a better recovery message or fix to this
issue.
