Thanks for the response and Yes, I'm able to create an ODBC DSN and The
connectivity Test was successful to SQL Server. And through Remote Desk
I'm able to log into SQL Server 2005 and view the database or do
everything that a system administrator can do with the login ID that I'm
trying to connect with from WDSC Data perspective.
Although I've look at the information in link that was provided, I
reviewed it again to make sure I didn't miss anything
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/889615 and it seems to also suggest to
change the server to Mix Mode (Windows Authentication and SQL Server
authentication) but with a side not when possible use Windows Only. But
since the two user Id's wasn't working, I created another user in SQL
Server 2005 and notice there's an option on the user level to select
(Windows Authentication or SQL Server authentication) so I set the new
id up with the SQL Server Authentication and password and added
permission to the database I needed and restarted the server but still
was unable to connection and go the "No Trusted SQL Server Connection.
But still haven't tried changing the Server Level to Mix Mode and not
scared to change it without knowing the consequences. I might have to
throw in the towel :-)
Thanks for your help

Here is more information - your SQL Server admin will need to grant your
Windows user enough authority, as described in this link -
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/889615
There is no need to change to mixed mode.

Does any have a connection set up to SQL Server 2005 from the Datachange
Perspective? If so any ideas where I may be going wrong and cannot
connect to SQL Server though Data Perspective? Every time I try to use
the new connection wizard in the Database Explorer to set up a new
connection to SQL Server 2005. I really would like to be able to use
this tool for external databases but I get the following message:
Connection to SQL Server failed.
Login failed for user 'TESTCONN'. The user is not associated with a
trusted SQL Server connection.
When I searched the internet for the cause of this message. There were
several suggestions that SQL Server may need to be configured to use
Mixed Mode (Windows authentication and SQL Server Authentication)
instead of just Windows Authentication. But the System administrator
might not like the idea of changing the SQL Server configuration so I
wanted to make sure I have check everything else before asking to
settings on SQL Server.3.0\sqljdbc_3.0\enu\sqljdbc.jar
May Connection Parameters are as follows:
JDBC driver = Microsoft SQLServer 2005 Driver for JDBC
Connection URL details are:
Database = TestSmacSalesFigures
Host = smacsql ( also tried the ip address)
Port number = 1433 (I assume this is the correct port)
JDBC driver class: = com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
Class location = C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server JDBC
Driver\Microsoft SQL Server JDBC Driver
Connection URL: =with
jdbc:sqlserver://smacsql:1433;databaseName=TestSmacSalesFigures
User information
Is correct because I can log in with remote desktop
it.
