I haven't tried extending LPEX, but I've written RSE plug-in's.
If you're going to COMMON, check out my session on writing RDP plug-in's.
There's also a WDSC-PLUGIN-DEV list (
http://lists.midrange.com/listinfo/wdsc-plugin-dev) that's strictly about extending RDP (and RDI & WDSC). It's a semi-private list that doesn't get a lot of traffic.
