I think these offerings are fantastic - I've tried some of the Rational
Team Concert things. There are some hiccoughs you'll run across, unless
they've fixed a few things I pointed out to the people supporting this,
mostly related to connectivity. There are also some naming things in the
exercises that don't always match - same as when IBM run these labs at
COMMON or other venues, I suppose.
IBM have been very responsive and helpful, by the way.
But these tools are pretty cool, I think. This could be a good place to
start with RD for POWER. Give them a try, and don't get too frustrated
if some glitch arises - look around for something that fits, contact IBM
- there's probably a contact link on the site.
BTW, they speak of VMWare images that you can use - this is NOT
available through the website. Those are only at labs at COMMON, say.
You will need to install the product(s) on your own box and connect to
their IBM i as instructed.
Also, there's some duplication of effort between the Quick Start and the
first exercise in each lab - maybe read through first, then do only the
lab connection stuff - I forget right now!
Enjoy!
