Hi Jim,

I believe RDP uses jt/400 (or jtopen) for communications, and therefore needs the following ports open:

http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/i/software/toolbox/faqports.html

Additionally, you need the port for the debugger open: 3825

At least, that's what I used to use for WDSC years ago. Today, I use a VPN and therefore I'm able to bypass the firewall entirely. So my info might be a bit dated.
