Ah, you've heard about le french blocade on les gas stations?
If I can just make it to Friday, I'm hoping I'll be alright as I'm on holiday at home next week. If not, I shall have to cross over the German border.

Once again, I jumped the gun.

I have checked with the experts and this is the story.
In RDi, you are correct that the connection information is no
longer stored in a project RemoteSystemsConnections but
inside preferences.
Between RDi/RDp workspaces you can select a connection and
select Export ... to generate a file with all of the
connection/filter info.
Right clicking on Remote Systems Explorer view in the target
workspace, you can select Import ... to get this in the
new workspace.
If you want to move your connection info in between WDSc and
RDi you would have to open the old workspace with RDi to get
the workspace migrated.
Note 1: always back up your workspace before migrating,
just in case.
Note 2: I have generalized that RDi has the new format. I
believe the change actually happened at RDi 7.5, So RDi 7.1
would have the same format as WDSc 7.0.

(The RemoteSystemsTempFiles project that I mentioned, has the
cached files that have been downloaded through RSE)

Again, I hope this helps,
Edmund Reinhardt

FYI,
RDi does store the remote connection in the same way, but the
RemoteTempFiles project is hidden by default in the Project
Explorer view.
If you go tot he Project Explorer view menu (just left of the
minimize dash on the view's toolbar) and select "Customize
View ..." you will see a set of filters that can be applied
and "RSE Internal Projects" is selected by
default. If you unselect that and press OK, the
"RemoteSystemsTempFiles"
project will appear and your connections will be in
folders within it.
From there on, you can follow Don's instructions for
migrating connections.

I hope this helps,
Edmund

RDI doesn't store the remote connection information this way.
My old WDSC workspaces contain the RemoteSystemsConnections
folder/project but the RDI workspaces do not.

Does anyone know how to duplicate/copy a profile in RDI? The
help in RDI has the same procedure as WDSC and what Don
wrote about.

Bryce,

This reply from Don Yantzi is really excellent reading.

Well I looked through the log in .metadata and noticed it
was choking
on a chache call so I cleared the cached under Window
-> Preferences -> Remote Systems -> iSeries -> Cache and
that cleared it up.

[WDSCI-L] Any way to restore connections and commands from one
workspace to another.

All,
I have come across the dreaded Error RSEG1066U. As I have
seen in a
couple of places this can only be fixed by creating a
new workspace.
I have been using this workspace for a year and a half
and have my
connections set by desired library list for dev and
prod compiling
plus lots of user commands for compiling and updating service
programs.

If I create a new workspace is there a way to import commands or
connections from one to another? I would hate to lose
all this and
have to recreate it.

Thanks
Bryce Martin
