I was trying to point out that "OS X is not Linux-based." And so,
applications compiled to run on Linux will not run "as is" on OS X.
The graphical user interface parts of OS X came from NextSTEP and
OPENSTEP, and Objective-C remains the preferred language for developing
GUI applications to run on Mac OS X. The "core" Unix parts of OS X are
based on various BSD Unix releases and on the Mach microkernel. See:
