I have got a HP E6750 2.66GHz 2Gb memory running XP Pro SP3. Everything else loads quite quickly. The only other difference is that I have installed IBM's Data Studio.
After an antivirus defintion update it takes quite a while for me to load anything. This includes Eclipse. Additionally Eclipse uses zillions of small files, which show if your antivirus is overly aggressive.

Are you certain that this is not the case here? "Oh, you want to use this jar, well, I need to check it first... again!"
