RDi and HATS

We used to develop a WebFacing product in WDSC and were quite happy with the result. But then we upgraded to RDi and our pure and simple WebFacing was automatically enriched with HATS we never asked for. The problem is, our customers are now facing huge HATS per user licence charges, although our application does not really use HATS. We had long and fruitless discussions with IBM on the subject. Was anybody else hit by Rdi in the same way? Did anyone find a reasonable way out?
