Yes, isn't the new maintenance pricing of development tools wonderful!

If it weren't for that, we would already be on 6.1. We upgraded our box
this past year, but the decision to go with V5R4 was based solely on
savings on development tool maintenance cost. Everything goes to a per
seat license at 6.1. Since we've been loyal to the platform dating back
to early System/38, we have tons of fully functional applications. To
maintain these, we need everyone to have access to the "Heritage
compilers" plus "ILE compilers" for new development, and the development
toolset of choice. Maintenance on it all adds up to a higher charge than
our entire Software Maintenance Agreement used to be. Ouch!

Luis:

I got on the RDi page of the IBM site and found a sales rep in chat.
She said the annual maintenance was 20% of the license fee. She
quotes %167 based on the $835 list price.
