Vern,
When I try that I don't get the same thing as the line copy and overlay. It
totally replaces the line instead of merging the two.
For example I have a CL source open that has ;
If cond(&this *EQ "That") then(do)
and I have a line that is just a comment like;
/* (a bunch of spaces) */
when I overlay the comment on the IF line I want to end up with
/* If cond(&this *EQ "That") then(do) */
I know I can do this with the line commands C (copy) or CR (copy and repeat)
then O (overlay) on the line, but I was hoping that alt-z would do the same
thing.

Another feature is alt-z - when you have used one of the block commands
- like alt-r = whatever you have selected, put your cursor somewhere,
and that block will be laid over that region - this works even between
source edit windows.
Try it - you might like it!!
