I realize this is getting further off the current forum group, but I'll
make one last statement. I gave up trying to line up overlays with text.
I draw nearly all form boxes using LINE and locate all text using POSITION
and FONT, and this is all variably run within the program. The DDS is
basically 4 short records for drawing horizontal line, vertical line,
variable text, and an ENDPAG keyword.

I recently even created a routine to draw those pesky radius'd boxes.
Anyway, since the program locates everything through variables, you can
accurately predict where everything will be, and through the use of
constants and incrementing line and column variables, its not much worse
than standard SCS type logic. Seriously, it sounds hard, but its not too
hard once you have a constant called LPI6 and do something like 'YPOS
+=LPI6' and 'XPOS=Col1' for a new row. At the end of this, everything
looks very crisp.

I start with some kind of form and use a ruler to determine locations, no
GUI required.

We have the IBM Infoprint Designer tool but, I guess I was hoping for
something that would help on the DDS side of things. Thanks for your
reply.

I'm with Darren on this one....

But I will mention IBM's Infoprint Designer which is the top-of-the
line tool for designing overlays ect.

Not sure if this is the proper list to post this question but, does
anyone know if IBM has a printer design tool that recognizes the advance

DDS keywords like BOX, LINE, FONT, OVERLAY, etc? Code Designer doesn't
recognize them, and in fact gives an error if you attempt to open a
printer file containing any of these keywords. It makes it kind of hard
to design a printer file with these keywords if you can't see where the
overlay is going to be on the page until you run the program that uses
the printer file.
