Tim, there is a redbook (2005) I've been reading that also addresses the
issue of "application re-engineering".

From what I've read it seems to be a good guide (at the 50,000 foot view).
I'm starting there and if anyone has any input regarding this redbook,
please share your comments or concerns. I don't know how to separate
presentation and business logic either but I think this is a good
perspective about how to design the db i/o business logic. Now what we
need is another redbook that has examples for decoupling the i/o &
business logic from the presentation, and maybe some best practices.

(I also think this would probably be better in Midrange-L, but this list
probably has more experienced users who are familiar with decoupling the
business logic from the presentation.)
