For the archives and fwiw,
Thanks to Linda Cole and Claus Weiss fromIBM Rational, I have found my workspace. Claus answer to my question was to just try using the WDSCi workspace and lo and behold all my connections, filters and so forth were there. the downside is that I can't have both WDSC and RDi open at the same time, but that's a small price.
The MS copy of the folder didn't seem to work. Probably did something wrong.
With Claus' solution I can try it out and so far about the same as WDSCi.
Thanks,
Dave B

From reading the help text it seems that I was supposed to migrate the workspace. since I didn't do that initially, is my only option to re-install?
I tried just entering the old v7.0 workspace name on the launcher, but it didn't give me the question I read about to migrate the workspace.
And it still shows up in the old location in program files not in My Documents.
I also found a tip on the iDeveloper blog
http://wdsc.wordpress.com/2007/06/06/tired-of-re-customizing-every-new-workspace-you-use/
about exporting but I can't figure out what preferences it has imported.
Also, it seems there is no way to import or migrate filters and connections. Is that correct or did I miss something?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions of what to try next,

Okay, this is what I tried:
Went to workspace location and copied my v70 workspace to a new name (workspace_trial)
Opened RDi using workspace_trial
Perhaps wrongly assumed (yes I know) that my filters and connections were in my workspace
Nothing showed, but created a new connection, created a filter and changed some source
Worked okay.
Closed RDi, opened WDSC using the workspace_trial
Again no connections just started off new, even with the welcome screen to WDSC that I haven't seen in months, (turned it off right away..)
So, what is in a workspace if not connections and filters? Or is there a correct way to copy? NOt just a Windoze copy and rename?
Thanks for the help,
Dave B

Looking for some help from early users of the trial RDi.
Are there issues in migrating the workspace from version 7 of wdsc?
Specifically, if the trial expires and I have to go back to using WDSC until we obtain real versions of RDi, will I be able to migrate back?
Interesting question. I haven't tried it yet, but I'll try to do it
later today, Dave. But you could just as easily try it yourself: copy a
workspace, open it with RDi, do some "stuff" <grin>, then copy it again
and try to open it with WDSC.
Worst case is that there will be some setting, such as preferences, that
won't transfer nicely. Since almost everything in RDi is already in
WDSC, I don't think there will be that much, but I would recommend
testing it out.
