Bob,

It sounds like you've followed the same entitlement path we have. We had
WDSC and RBDe . Our system admin went to passport advantage and ordered
the only thing he saw: "Rational Business Developer" (RBD) 7.1. RBD 7.1
is not RBD with SOA---I think what you're after is "Rational Developer for
System i with SOA Construction" (RDi-SOA). RBDe upgrades to RBD not
RDi-SOA.

RBD is a $3000 package and RDi-SOA is roughly a $2000 package. (RBDe was
a $1500 package.) I would think that would help IBM want to entitle us to
RDi-SOA instead. I personally would take it either way, but the software
maintenance is based on the price of the product. It would take more to
sell management on the annual cost of RDi + RBD (around $759 a seat--if I
understand the pricing correctly) than RDi-SOA (around $400 a seat).

Some of the folks from IBM Rational are checking to see if we can upgrade
to RDi-SOA instead.

[WDSCI-L] RDB 7.1 media and RDi

I just today received my copy of RDB 7.1 with SOA. First off, what
happened to the nice packaging? A piece of software this sophisticated
and they just throw each CD in its own sleeve and throw them all in the
box? And why CDs and not DVDs? What a pain.

Anyway, I just installed RDB and launched for the first time. I was
under the impression that RDB 7.1 included the iSeries editing tools,
but I don't see them, or RSE. Is RDi 7.1 a separate install with
another set of media (which I don't have included with my shipment)?
