FYI The S/3 used BiSync.

My point is that to a long time AS400 programmer all this web
stuff is like stepping back 30 years into the past.
It was quite a mind twist when I first programmed on a S38, I
could write a program as if it was for a single user and the OS
automagically made it work for multi-users. Provided I did not
abuse it the DB looked after record locking. And I could leave
a program active as long as I liked. I could even recompile a
program while it was being used with out any consequences.

My intent on posting my question was to see if my conception was
correct. It seems I am correct, so I will proceed with my designs
on the basis of a paradigm I used a long time ago.

Sarcasm is never a defense of your position, and twin-ax came into
use on the S/38 I believe.
